ReValver Guitar Effects Software

Designing a flexible virtual rig for modern guitarists

ReValver is a powerful guitar amp and effects suite that enables musicians to create custom tone setups using virtual gear. The software replicates real world amps, pedals and studio tools, giving users deep control over tone and signal routing. I designed the modular signal chain interface, allowing users to drag and drop components like amps, cabinets, pedals and EQs. I also created detailed GUI layouts for the DSP driven effects, combining tactile realism with a clean visual hierarchy. The challenge was to make a dense, feature rich environment feel accessible and intuitive, even for first time users. Through iterative prototyping and testing with musicians, I refined the layout and usability of each screen, from the effects rack and preset browser to the amp control panels and touch screen view.

THE PROBLEM ReValver boasted best-in-class tone modeling, but its outdated UI and branding didn’t resonate with users or reflect the software’s innovative capabilities. MY ROLE I worked directly with the Product Director and C-level stakeholders to redefine the visual and interaction design, leading the UI overhaul and brand evolution across the platform. WHAT WE DID • Expanded device visuals and scene layout for improved usability • Restructured the interface to elevate key features and streamline navigation • Applied the HeadRush colour palette with a raw, rock aesthetic to match audience expectations • Redesigned the logo to embody the new brand direction and give ReValver future-ready identity • Delivered design assets ready for multi-platform rollout (desktop, VST3 support) OUTCOMES • UI usability improved substantially through user testing and feedback • The updated visuals and layout drove stronger user engagement and brand connection • The new logo and aesthetic reinforced ReValver’s position within the HeadRush family • Set the tone for future extensions, making ReValver feel like a modern, professional instrument
