THE PROBLEM Designing a high function video control system that aligned with the simplicity of the Engine ecosystem while delivering professional performance tools for DJs. MY ROLE Working with the Product Owner, Engine UI Lead, and Arkaos engineers, I created the interaction patterns and designed the full interface. This included developing low fidelity sketches and interactive prototypes that could be tested and refined with internal teams. WHAT WE DID • Developed UI patterns that mirrored the simplicity of Engine software • Created consistent visual language to unify the Engine and Arkaos design styles • Ensured clarity and speed of access to video layers, parameters and settings • Designed performance overlays, transitions and FX control • Built out visual identity aligned with Engine DJ and SoundSwitch systems OUTCOMES • Created a powerful but approachable tool that DJs could learn quickly • Successfully integrated a standalone video product into a cohesive multi-product suite • Delivered a polished visual identity that matched Engine DJ’s performance aesthetics • Enabled visual creativity alongside audio performance
